Wapello, June 1 - Vinton Massie, a veteran of the 19th Iowa infantry, answered the last roll call and crossed over the dark river of death, at his home in this city Tuesday evening, after a long illness. He had been a prominent citizen of Wapello many years. He leaves a widow and four young children and a number of children by a former marriage, to mourn his demise. The funeral services occur Thursday, June 2, 1898. At this time, we have no further particulars. The memorial sermon, preached by Rev. T. N. Buchanan, is said by the veterans and many others to have been the very best delivered in Wapello.
