I noticed that you are researching Peyton's. Where were yours located? I am looking for info on John Peyton/Payton. His wife Mary, was already deceased by 1920. He had a daughter Cora. In 1920 John & Cora were living in Grant, Linn Co., IA. I believe he is my GGrandfather's (James M Payton) brother. John also had a son, Chester L Peyton living with him in 1920. I think Chester was adopted, but not sure. John was born abt 1848 in Louisa Co., IA (if this is the right John). I have been searching for info on him & his father (another John Peyton) for over 30 years, but have run into constant brick walls.
