I would like to know that too. On my annual trip to the courthouse (skipped this year) I have noticed more and more records being taped over which doesn't make sense because many are over 75-100 years old. It is getting to the point that the birth-death-marriage books are becoming useless to researchers even though they are supposed to be public access.

Isn't that censoring the freedom of information for that state?

Maybe regular local researchers can chime in on this one?
