Colene, I can't explain the difference between your source of 1866 and the tombstone inscription indicating March of 1860, but I'd go with the tombstone inscription. If you will look at the heading for column 3 of the 1860 census you will see it indicates "The name of every person whose usual place of abode on the first day of June, 1860, was in this family". So if the enumerator was following his instructions to the letter, it is correct that on a census dated in June, that someone who died in March of that year, wouild be enumerated as to the official start date of the census, which was 1 June, 1860. This is something many of us tend to overlook or not even consider. She may or may not also have been placed on the 1860 mortality schedules for 1860. Dick
