Funeral service for Mrs. George W Beaman, 79, who died Friday, March 17 at Mercy Hospital, Anamosa, following a short illness, was held Tuesday afternoon at the Smykil Home for Funerals. Rev. Edgar E Walker, Jr, of the Methodist church, was the officiating minister. Pallbearers were: Foss Davis, Robert Deyo, L A Downing, Oscar M Miller, Leigh Pearson and Leo Sanner. Burial was made at Riverside cemetery.Harriet, daughter of Joseph and Mary Glass, was born at Quasqueton, Iowa, Feb. 18, 1867, and was the oldest of a family of six children. She was orphaned at the age of 12.
April 11, 1894, she was married to George W Beaman. They celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary in 1944. Four Children were born to the union.
Mrs. Beaman was a member of the Anamosa Methodist church for the last 40 years, and was a charter member of the Women's society of Christian service. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star.
Mr. and Mrs. Beaman have lived in Anamosa 46 years, living 2 years in Independence, Iowa and Creston, Iowa, four years, immediately following their marriage.
Surviving are her husband, her children, Mrs. Mildred Stucker, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Maud Lowry, Anamosa, Harry, New York City, and Bernard S , Houston, Texas, a sister, Mrs. Etta Miller, Bradley, ILL, a brother, Joe, West Palm Beach, Fla., and eight grandchildren.
