In Response To: Isaac W. Grover (Shirley Lee)

Just a quick check shows him in the 1880 census as a Sewing Machine Pedler. At RootsWeb one database shows his father Isaac C. Grover, born November 23, 1823 Pittston, Kennebeck Co., ME and died September 18, 1891 Milton, Dodge Co., MN and is buried there. Married Elizabeth Ann ____ on December 7, 1843 Guilford, Piscataquis Co., ME. She died June 23, 1913 also in Dodge Co so you may be able to find an obit on her to get a birth and maiden name?

Looks like they had 8 children including Isaac W. Grover but they show him born in Maine rather than Illinois. The next child, Chauncy was born 1851 in Illinois. This is in conflict with the census that says Isaac W. was born in IL with both parents in CT.

Isaac has a GAR card so is buried in Jones County. The 1895 Monticello census shows a sarah Van Voltenburg, age 60 born NY living with them so this may be a relative of Elizabeth?

You may also want to check Delaware County records as I see one of his sisters died there.

That's about all I can contribute... I am sure others can help find his whereabouts (probably Oakwood cemetery).
