thanks, Joanne! What great information! Now i can stop looking for children of these two.

By the way, the Joseph Laird referred to as executor was probably Joseph C. Laird, Eleanor's brother.

As far as the other probate "within" that probate, this is a real mystery. i'll have to read it over and compare it with what i have in my database to see if it makes sense.
