Funeral services for Galen L. Murfield, 56, former Stanwood area resident, were held at Olin Nov. 28 with the Rev. Douglas Tharpe officiating. Burial was in the Olin cemetery. Pallbearers were Ronald Conley, Lawrence Robinson, James Doser, Douglas McDonald, Craig Nixon and Mike Kroemer.

Mr. Murfield died at Mercy hospital, Cedar Rapids, Nov. 25.

The son of Perry and Elsie Shaffer Murfield, he was born at Olin Jan. 3, 1931 and was educated in the Olin and Anamosa schools.

As a young man he became a carpenter, and built and remodeled homes in the Olin and Stanwood areas nearly all of his adult life. For the past 3 years he had lived with a sister, Mrs. Wilma McDonald, Cedar Rapids and worked there as a carpenter.

He is survived by 3 daughters, Katherine Nixon, Dallas, Texas; Mrs. Brick (Kristie) Logan, West Bend, Wis. and Mrs. Douglas (Kendra) Olson, Ames; a son, Perry, Bellevue, Neb.; 7 sisters, Mrs. Wilma McDonald and Mrs. Mildred Staab, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Raymond (Marcella) Batchelder, Olin; Mrs. Robert (Ruth) Andre, Torrence, Calif.; Mrs. Wilbur (Pat) Johnson and Mrs. Raoul (Jan) Swanson, Anamosa and 6 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and 2 sisters.
