AN OLD PENSIONER-Benjamin Ellis, Senior, of Jackson Twp., and father of David Ellis, of this city, was born Oct. 25th, 1794, and is 81 years old. He served all through the War of 1812, for which service he drew as bounty 320 acres of land, and is now drawing a pension of ninety-six dollars a year. He is the father of fifteen boys and one girl. Nine of the sons are now living in this state and one in Missouri. Two of his sons were soldiers in the late war, one of whom died at Helena, Arkansas, Dec, 15, 1862. With the exception of rheumatism, Mr. Ellis enjoys good health and bids fair to live some years yet. Few indeed of his age are possessed of as good memory of passing events.
