“Bobby” was born on September 3, 1946 in Chicago, IL, the son of Robert S Rosenfels and Edith (Levy) Rosenfels. In his younger years, Robert enjoyed playing tennis, golf and following Chicago sports teams. He graduated from New Trier High School and studied economics at Trinity University in San Antonio, TX.

Robert met Jamie Wendel in 1968 in Iowa City, and they quickly became enamored with each other. They decided to live close to the land, creating extensive organic gardens each summer, and they were active in progressive social movements. They were married in 1970. From their union came their five children - Jaia, Jaffa, Jeremiah, Sage and Sasha - whom they raised in rural Maquoketa.

Robert created a career selling hearth products, and after years of running Great River Stove Co. in Maquoketa, IA he became a manufacturer's representative, building successful business relationships in Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Missouri.

Later in life, Robert enjoyed spending time with his family and his eclectic group of friends, traveling the world extensively, hiking, keeping himself well read in national and global history and politics, and speaking daily with his children. He became their patient ear and shoulder for support and guidance. He was generous with his time and resources and truly became a model for how to live a good life in becoming an adoring and supportive husband, father and grandfather.

Robert is survived by his loving wife Jamie, his sister Joan Rosenfels, his children: Jaia, Longmont, CO, Jaffa (Jenny), Broomfield, CO, Jeremiah, San Francisco, CA, Sage, Omaha, NE, and Sasha (Sean Gillon), Portland, OR; and his grandchildren: Peyton, Ava, Kellan, Lola, Finley, and Harper. He had extended family and many friends who adored him, including the Sanditz family, the Levy cousins, the Wolff cousins, and friends around Eastern Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Edith Rosenfels, his step mother, Josephine Sanditz Rosenfels, and his sister, Ellen Rosenfels.
