Judy Eileen Boten, 80, of Bettendorf, Iowa, passed away on December 18, 2023. Cremation and a family graveside have taken place at National Cemetery in Clayton County. A celebration of life will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed in her name to Chapter KT of the P.E.O. Foundation at https://donations.peointernational.org/peo-donation-elf.
Judy Boten was born to Theodore and Grace (Matt) Burrack on September 24, 1943 in Farmersburg. She grew up on her family’s farm with her older brother, Gary. After graduating from her local high school, she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Zoology from Iowa State in February of 1966.
Judy married John William Boten on October 9th, 1965 in Farmersburg. The couple had two children, Carol and Russell. John’s career with John Deere meant the family lived in Waterloo, Dubuque, Parkview, and Cedar Falls as well as Moline, Illinois, from 1985 to 2021. Judy worked as a medical technologist, and her favorite place to work was for doctors Davies and Oppenheimer in Moline. She retired before she had grandchildren.
Judy loved playing bridge, gardening, and painting in her spare time. She was a bronze life master in bridge and active for several years in the Quad-Cities Bridge Club. As a master gardener, she loved being outdoors in her extensive landscaping every day. She was the president of Moline’s Chapter KT of the P.E.O., a charitable group whose work for people in need she loved. She and her husband were also longtime members of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she was a part of its bell choir. Judy will be best remembered as a loving wife and mother, and for her easy and joyful smile and her good works in the community.
Judy is survived by her husband, John; children Carol and Russell Boten; her son-in-law Brooks Gordon and her grandchildren Kate and Jack Gordon; her brother, Gary Burrack, and his wife,
Judy; and three nieces. Judy was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Patricia Lynn.
