JAMES CIHA, AGED PIONEER, PASSES

James Ciha, one of the best known of the early pioneers of Johnson County, died at his home in this city this morning at 7 o’clock, aged 77 years.

The deceased was born in Bohemia in 1834, but came to America in early life, and has been a resident of Iowa City during the past 44 years. He was widely respected by a wide circle of acquaintances, and scores of pioneer friends will grieve over his departure.

He leaves a wife and eight children, all living. There are two sons and six daughters, as follows: John Ciha, of Cedar township, and James of Omaha; Mrs. J. J. Beranek, Mrs. Art Kloos, Mrs. John Bruce, Mrs. Fred Chensky and Misses Josie and Kate Ciha all of Iowa City.

The hour of the funeral has not yet been fixed, and announcement concerning it will be made later.
