Juliann Kienzle, 69 of Iowa City passed away at her residence on November 14, 2023.

Cremation has taken place, and no services are planned currently. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Friends of the Animal Center Foundation to support the Iowa City Animal Shelter.

Juliann was born to George and Nancy (Jones) Kienzle on September 14, 1954 in Iowa City, IA. She graduated Iowa City High School in 1972 and left home to pursue her one abiding interest and love: animals. Julie loved all animals, but especially horses. Julie worked as a horse groom on the East coast for many years, and had the good fortune to accompany her equestrian team to the Olympics in the 1980's. She worked her way back to Iowa several times during her lifetime, employed as a veterinary assistant in West Branch. The bulk of her time, however, was spent in Wyoming, where her passion for caring for animals and working outside was fulfilled. In her free time, she could be found horseback riding or camping in the mountains with her corgis.J

Julie is survived by her mother, Nancy, and siblings Michael (Susan Frye) Kienzle, David (Alicia) Kienzle, Paul (Laura) Kienzle, and Matthew (Jacqueline) Kienzle.

Julie was preceded in death by her father, George Kienzle, DDS.
