Judy R. Schiltz, 79, of Iowa City, IA, died October 17, 2023, at home surrounded by family and friends.

She was born October 11, 1944, in Carroll, IA, the daughter of the late Velma and Ralph Duff. She was an only child.

Judy married John Schiltz on February 20, 1965, in Scranton, IA. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, her in-laws: Evelyn and Isadore “Dick” Schiltz, many aunts, uncles, and friends. She is survived by three sons: Jeffery (Sherri Eagle) Schiltz of Iowa City, IA, Judd (Jean) Schiltz of Lockport, IL and Jared (Jennifer) Schiltz of Scottsdale, AZ; daughter-in-law, Kris Schiltz of North Liberty, IA; four grandchildren: Dillon (Addie Bockenstedt), Sydney, Tyler, and Cooper; in-laws: Ray (Penny) Schiltz of West Des Moines, IA, Robert (Ellen) Schiltz of Urbandale, IA, Gary (Pat) Schiltz of Jefferson, IA, Sandra (Joe) Deshazer of Eudora, KS, and Joe (Shari Crosby) Schiltz of East Moline, IL; and friends including Myrna and Bob Snakenberg, the Littrell family, and the Bucket List Group.

Judy graduated from Scranton High School and went on to serve the Iowa City community as a dedicated childcare provider. She was active in the Little Hawk Club, the Iowa City Booster Club, and Iowa City Kickers for many years. Judy was deeply caring and had a way of making everyone feel like they were part of the family. Judy enjoyed spending time with her loved ones, especially her grandchildren. She also found joy while traveling with her family and friends. Judy enjoyed monthly get-togethers with her friends that they called the Bucket List Group, getting her nails done, reading, and Diet Coke. She also had an extensive Coca-Cola memorabilia collection. Judy was also an animal lover and enjoyed the friendship of many pets over the years.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 10, 2023 at the Elks Lodge in Iowa City with a time of food and fellowship to follow until 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Iowa City Hospice or the Iowa City Animal Care and Adoption Center.
