Pat was born in Grant County, Indiana on August 17, 1930, the daughter of Arthur and Ida (Barker) Presnall. She grew up in Marion, Indiana, graduating from Marion High School in 1948. In 1951 she married Phillip Eugene Jacks. Phil died in 2010. Pat raised her family in Marion County, Indiana and Erie County, Ohio until the family moved to Iowa in 1965. Once the children were in school Pat worked as a secretary at Southeast Junior High School in Iowa City, then at the University of Iowa until her retirement in 1994.

Pat loved spending time with her family and supporting her children and grandchildren in various sporting activities such as football, dance, baseball, basketball, volleyball, and soccer. Her involvements with these family activities lead to the formation of lifetime friendships. Pat was also an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes, especially football and men’s and women’s basketball. Pat loved to travel with Phil, taking many trips to places such as Italy, England, France, Russia, Ireland, Canada, Germany, and Alaska. She loved to read and was never too busy for a game of bridge, Bingo, Hand and Foot or Dominos.

Survivors include a son Tom (Dale) Jacks of Hillsborough, NJ and their children Andy and Eric of Manville, NJ; a son Tobin (Fran) Jacks of Ottumwa, Iowa and his sons Michael of Ottumwa and Daniel, of Ankeny; a daughter Cindy (Jim) Noesen of Iowa City and their children Kyle of Coralville, Katie (Tyler) Griffith of Goodyear AZ, and Molly (Matthew) Groe of Kalona, and one great grandson, Hudson.
