Thomas E. Ciha, age 69 of Clinton, died Friday, September 10, 2004, at Mercy Hospital in Clinton, Iowa.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, September 13, 2004 at the Lemke Funeral Home - North in Clinton where after 7 pm there will be a time for sharing thoughts and memories of Tom. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday at the Solon United Methodist Church, Solon, Iowa where there will be a period of visitation one hour prior to the services. Family graveside services will be held at the Oakland Cemetery in Solon. In Lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Tom’s memory. Online condolences may be sent for Tom’s family through our website @gayandciha.com. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City is caring for Tom’s family and local arrangements.

Thomas E. Ciha was born May 6, 1935, near Sutliff rural Johnson County, Iowa the son of Wesley and Lois (Longerbeam) Ciha. He graduated from Solon High School in 1953 and from Coe College in Cedar Rapids in 1957. He held the position of Chief Psychologist of the Rockford Public Schools, (Rockford, Illinois) and later the Mississippi Bend Area Education Association in Iowa from which he retired in 2000. He was a past President of the National Association of School Psychologists.

His family includes his three children, Clay Ciha and his wife, Laura of Naperville, IL, Neysa Ciha of Huntington Beach, CA, and Eric Ciha and his wife, Pam of Theresa, WI; seven grandchildren, Elizabeth, Alexandra, Joshua, Cory, Conrad, Tanner, and Abigail; brothers and their wives, David and Kay Ciha of Kalona, and Larry and Corleen Ciha of Hackensack, MN.

His parents, Wes and Lois Ciha, preceded him in death.
