Faye M. Kubichek, 90, of 122 S. 7th Avenue in Iowa City, died Sunday, September 5, 2004 at Iowa City Rehabilitation & Health Care Center.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, September 11th at 1:00 PM at
Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City. Private burial will be held in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Blairstown, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to Camp Courageous or The Benton County American Legion Scholarship Fund.

Faye was born March 22, 1914 in Mt. Vernon, Iowa, the daughter of James W. & Bessie (Serbousek) Kubichek. She graduated from Blairstown Consolidated Schools and received her masters degree from Columbia University in New York. Faye was a nurse administrator, serving at Bridgeport University, Mankato State University, Marycrest College and the University of Iowa. Her last appointment was with Iowa Wesleyan College in Mt. Pleasant, where she retired in 1982.

Faye served in the Army Nurse Corps as a 1st Lieutenant from 1940 until 1945. She had lived in Iowa City since 1980, was a member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Iowa City, Blairstown American Legion, American Association of University Women, American Nurses Association and National League of Nurses.

Survivors include three brothers, Clarence Kubichek & his wife Kathryn and Charles Kubichek & his wife Evelyn, all of Blairstown and Lawrence “Bud” Kubichek & his wife Norma of Sutliff, many nieces & nephews and great nieces & nephews.

Faye was preceded in death by her parents, one nephew, one niece and a longtime friend, Domenicha “Skippy” Spero.
