DIES AT HOME
Iowa City Resident
Since 1925 Succumbs
Friday After Illness

Verne A. Gunnette, 62, died at his home at 512 North Gilbert street at 8:30 p.m. Friday. He had been in ill health for some time.
Mr. Gunnette was in the barber and beauty shop business here for many hears and operated a farm near Oxford.
He was born January 3, 1889, at Neola, the son of Albert and Nellie Childs Gunnette. As a small child he moved with his parents to Logan.
Mr. Gunnette married Jessie Willey of Macomb, Ill., in 1917. They lived on a farm in Harrison county until moving to Iowa City in 1925.
Mr. Gunnette was a member of the Methodist church, the Farm Bureau and Knights of Pythias lodge.
He is survived by his widow, one daughter, Mrs. Vincent Grabin of Oxford, two grandchildren, Gayle and Sammy Grabin, three sisters, Mrs. J. G. Foutch, of Logan, Mrs. Earl Leonard, of Logan, and Mrs. James Orchard, of San Rafael, Calif., and one brother, A. O. Gunnette, of Seattle, Wash.
His parents and two brothers preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be at the Oathout funeral chapel at 2 p.m. Monday, Dr. L. L. Dunnington will officiate with burial in Memory Gardens.
