David William Molloy, age 75, perished Friday, August 20, 2004 from injuries received in a fire at his home in Coralville.

David was born October 8, 1929, the son of John Stephen Molloy and Georgia Madison Molloy, in Centerville, IA. Following graduation from Centerville High School, David enlisted in the United States Army in 1948, where he served until 1951. He was stationed in Fort Bliss, TX, and later was involved in training missions involving nuclear weapons testing for the Army. After having attained the rank of Sergeant, David served his final year with the Army in England, after the start of the Korean War.

Following his military service, David returned to Centerville, and completed two years of studies at Centerville Junior College, and attended follow-up studies at the University of Iowa in Iowa City.

He settled in Coralville, and founded Martin Building Services, a small contracting company, providing construction services and steel building construction in a multiple state region. David served as owner and manager of the firm up until his death.

He was married to Joan Schnoeblen Molloy of Riverside, IA.

David is survived by his twin brother, John Madison Molloy of Mammoth Lakes, CA, and two of his older sisters, M. Patricia (Patty) Molloy and Elizabeth (Betts) Molloy Waite, both of Laguna Hills, CA, and 13 nieces and nephews.

He was preceeded in death by his two older sisters, Georgia Molloy Lundquist, of Iowa City, IA, and Ann Molloy Buss of Centerville, IA.

The family will greet friends on Friday afternoon at Lensing’s Oak Hill Funeral Service, 210 Holiday Road, Coraville, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Graveside services will follow at 3:00 p.m. at St. Vincent Cemetery on Highway 22, 3 miles west of Riverside, Iowa, where military rites will be conducted by the Coralville American Legion. Following the services the family will greet friends at Murphy’s Bar and Grill in Riverside for an Irish Wake. Memorials may be directed to the American Red Cross.
