Marilyn Jean Villhauer, 75 of Iowa City, died Tuesday, August 17, 2004 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:30AM at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City with Reverend Michael Phillips officiating. Friends may call Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. Memorials may be directed to the Marilyn Villhauer Memorial Fund. The family will host a luncheon at St. Wenceslaus parish hall following the burial.

Marilyn was born January 28, 1929 in Tipton, Iowa the daughter of George W. and Ann (Kott) Mellicker. She married Leo Villhauer on August 10, 1948 in Iowa City.

Marilyn worked in food prep at the University of Iowa Quadrangle Cafeteria for four years.
She then operated a daycare in her home for 44 years, retiring in 1994. She was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church and a lifelong Iowa City resident. Marilyn was an avid BINGO player, enjoyed taking family photos and designing photo albums. She was a Hawkeye football and basketball fan and very much enjoyed doing crafts for her children and grandchildren.

Marilyn is survived by her five children, John Villhauer of Iowa City, Sandra Schaefer (Steven) of Solon, Charles Villhauer (Bonnie) of Coralville, Cindy Villhauer of Iowa City, and Janet Maher (Mike) of North Liberty; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leo and two brothers, Robert and George.
