Donald E. LeBlond, age 89 of 350 Dublin Drive, Iowa City died Saturday, August 7, 2004, at Windmill Manor Care Center in Coralville following a brief illness.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 14, 2004, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Memorial donations can be made in Donald’s memory to Iowa City Hospice, 1025 Wade Street, Iowa City, Iowa 52240. Donald Edmund LeBlond was born February 26, 1915, in Cincinnati, Ohio the son of Alfred and Abigail (Rardon) LeBlond. Growing up in Cincinnati, he graduated from high school there and later from college in Greeley, Colorado. In Greeley, he married Ruth E. Foard on June 1, 1942. During World War II, he served in the United States Army. Following the war Don began a career as an engineer for Boeing in Seattle, WA. While living in Washington, Don was a member of the Unitarian Church in Bellevue, and an avid and longtime member of the Seattle Mountaineers. Don and his wife moved to Iowa City this past year.

His family includes his wife of sixty-two years, Ruth; sons, David Thomas LeBlond and his wife, Karen of Anchorage, Alaska, and Dr. Richard LeBlond and his wife, Annie of Iowa City; daughter, Marilyn Ruth LeBlond of Maryville, Washington; grandchildren, Jane LeBlond, Sueno LeBlond, Edgardo LeBlond, and Jennifer LeBlond; and his sister, Winifred Leaverton of Sand Point, Idaho.
