Jerry Wayne Gingerich, 22 of Iowa City formerly of Coralville died suddenly Friday after a lengthy illness.

Funeral services will be held 2:00p.m. on Wednesday at Lensing’s Oakhill 210 Holiday Road, Coralville. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lensing’s Oakhill. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Jerry Wayne Gingerich Memorial Fund.

Jerry was born March 1, 1982 in Iowa City, the son of Jerry Lee and Danette (Shoemaker) Gingerich. He was a graduate of West High School. He worked at the University of Iowa in central sterilizing. He enjoyed motorcycles, drag racing and was an avid Radio Control Racer.

He is survived by his parents, Jerry and Danette of Coralville, Iowa; his wife Christina Gingerich of Muscatine, Iowa; two brothers, Staff Sgt. Preston Gingerich and his wife Shellie of Solon, Iowa, Christopher Gingerich of Iowa City, Iowa; two sisters, Cherice Kintz and her husband John of Tiffin, Iowa; Dawn Slezak and her husband Scott of Shueyville, Iowa; two nephews, Shawn Kintz and Carson Slezak. He is also survived by his grandparents, Dennis and Rosalie Shoemaker of Iowa City and by many aunts and uncles.
