Kathleen ‘Kath” A. Dunham, 72, of 1406 Oaklawn Avenue, died suddenly Thursday, July 15, 2004 at Orlando Regional Hospital, Orlando, Florida while visiting her daughter.

A Funeral Service to celebrate Kath’s life will be held Monday, July 19, 2004 at 1PM at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 4 to 7PM at the funeral home. A reception at the pavilion at North Hickory Hill Park will follow the committal. Memorials may be directed to Iowa City Hospice or a memorial in Kath’s name.

Kathleen was born October 23, 1931 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, the daughter of Le Roy and Kathryn Pratt Peterson. She married Gerald B. Dunham on November 23, 1951 in Iowa City. Jerry died in 1998.

She was a 1949 graduate of McKinley High School in Cedar Rapids and had attended the University of Iowa. Kath had been a psychiatric aide at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and later was the office nurse for Dr. Elmer Groben. Kath had also worked in the emergency room at Mercy Hospital.

After their children were grown she and her husband, who was a pipefitter, traveled across the United States in their trailer for his work with Williams Pipeline.

Kath loved her family and was very supportive of her grandchildren. She embroidered and crocheted, played bridge with her friends at the Elks Club, enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles, played the piano and volunteered at Walden Place.

She is survived by her five children:
Cynthia (Luis) Gonzalez of Heathrow, Florida, Daniel Dunham and Mary Johnson, Diane McDonald and Mike Full, David Dunham all of Iowa City, Douglas (Linda) Dunham of Nashua, New Hampshire; her mother Kathryn Peterson of Iowa City; five grandchildren,
Lucinda Gonzalez, Dana Dunham, Liza Gonzalez, Shauna McDonald, Joshua Dunham, Jacob Dunham; one sister Karen (Roger) Perkins of St. Paul, Minnesota.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her father, her sister Pat Kupka and her son-in-law Richard McDonald.
