Bernice Marie Sedlacek, 65, of 2801 Hwy. 6 East , Iowa City, died suddenly June 18, 2004 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

Funeral Services to celebrate Bernice’s life will be Tuesday June 22, 2004 at 1:00 pm at Lensing Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Iowa City with Father Michael Phillips officiating. Friends may call Monday from 4 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Bernice Sedlacek Memorial Fund.

Bernice was born February 21, 1939 in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Ben and Amelia (Terpkosh) Sojka. She was raised in rural Cedar Rapids and graduated from Wilson High School. She married Vernon Joseph Sedlacek on July 19, 1955.

Bernice enjoyed in her lifetime fishing, camping, bowling, Hawkeye Football games, country music, playing cards and spending quality time with her family and friends.

Bernice had been employed for 30 years at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry. She was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, the Altar and Rosary Society and Eagles Lodge #695 Auxiliary, the Prokep Velkey Lodge # 137 and she was also a member of the National Czech Slovak Museum and Library.

Bernice is survived by her daughter Doreen Sedlacek and her finance Tony Villhauer of Iowa City; sons Scott, Ted and Brad Sedlacek all of Iowa City; brother Robert Sojka and wife Joyce of Bella Vista, Arkansas; sister Karolyn Sedlacek and husband Ralph of Iowa City; grandchildren Chad, Crystal, Brittany, Devon and Bradley Jr. and great-grand child Caleb; many nieces and nephews; and the many great family and friends she was so blessed to have in her lifetime.

She was preceded in death by her husband Vernon, her mother Amelia and her father Ben.
