Sherry Lynn Rozendaal (Losing), 64, of St. Paul, MN, went home to our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2023, in St. Paul, MN. Funeral service was at Sully First Reformed Church on Wednesday, Nov. 22.
Sherry was born in Grinnell on Dec. 27, 1958. A loving daughter, sister, mother, and friend, Sherry was known for her contagious smile and deep love for all.
Growing up, Sherry successfully navigated life despite being Deaf-Blind. Sherry attended the Iowa School for the Deaf (ISD) in Council Bluffs. After graduating from ISD, Sherry went to Minneapolis, MN, to attend North Central University (NCBC). After marrying in 1983, Sherry had two beautiful children whom she loved deeply. Sherry served in various ministry roles across many churches, like Calvary United Pentecostal Church in Bloomington, MN, United Pentecostal Church in Oakdale, MN, and Grace Place in Saint Paul, MN. Before Sherry’s health declined, she played the drums for worship at Shiloah Temple in Brooklyn Park, MN. An avid bowler, a lover of arts and crafts, and an adoration of listening to worship music loudly and with a deep bass, her joy was felt in every room she was in. Sherry was under the care of Ebenezer Care Center for five years and, for the past few months, alongside Health Partners Hospice in St. Paul, MN. She will be missed, but her joy will continue through all who knew her. To know Sherry is to love her.
Sherry was preceded in death by her mother Shirley Rozendaal of Sully and many other family and friends who have gone before her. She is survived by her two daughters Samantha (Jeremy) Roe of Grand Prairie, TX, and Emily (John) Nance of Kansas City, MO; her father Harold (Velma) Rozendaal of Sully; her siblings Sandy (Brent) DeJong of Sully and Kevin (Kim) Rozendaal of Little Elm, TX; and stepbrother Bryan (Sharla) Dieleman of Pella. Also grateful to share her life are nieces, nephews, and many more extended family and friends.
