Castorf, Colleen Bovenkamp - 1924-2023

Funeral services for Colleen Castorf, 99, of Pella and formerly of Sully, were held at 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 4, at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, Sully. Memorials may be given to Sully Ambulance or St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church. Interment was in St. Andrew’s Cemetery.
Colleen Bovenkamp Castorf was born May 15, 1924, to Henry and Daisy (Shelton) Bovenkamp in Galesburg.
Colleen was a graduate of Newton High School. She acquired her teachers license and taught at several rural schools.
Sept. 21, 1945, she was united in marriage to Carroll Castorf. To this union two daughters were born: Lynn Louise and Marsha Ann.
Carroll and Colleen farmed for many years. In 1968, they started Castorf Camper Sales and Service, until 1996. They also owned a Casey’s Store in Sully for many years. Carroll and Colleen spent many winters in Arizona until Carroll passed away in 1996. Colleen still went to Arizona in the winters and taught teddy bear classes with her dear friend Bernice. Colleen loved to sew many beautiful quilts and was known for her famous lemon pie.
In 2007, she decided it was time to stay home in Iowa for the winters. In 2013–2021, she again went down to Arizona for the winter to live with Lynn and Clarence.
In 2018, Colleen moved to Sully. In 2022, she went to Independence Village in Pella. She lived there until the Lord called her home on Nov. 29, 2023.
Colleen’s family is: Lynn (Clarence) Wyma and Marsha Van Wyk all of Sully; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Colleen was preceded in death by her husband Carroll Castorf, her parents Henry and Daisy Bovenkamp, her brother Leland Bovenkamp, her son-in-law Allan Van Wyk, her grandson Scott Allan Van Wyk, and her grandson Mike De Zwarte.
