Prairie City News – Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon at the First Reformed Church in Prairie City for Govert A. Van Zee. He passed away Feb. 21, after a lingering illness, at the age of 81 year, 4 months, and 18 days. Rev. E. Huibregtse of Pella conducted the services. Left to mourn his passing are his nine children: Martin of Pella, Dick of Prairie City, Chester of Newton, William and Mrs. Katherine Boot of Mitchellville, Harry, Raymond, Mrs. Wilma Buitenwerf, and Marion all of Prairie City.
He leaves 25 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, one brother, William, and two sisters, Mrs. Aart De Kock and Mrs. William Vander Wilt, all of Pella. He was preceded in death by his wife on Feb. 24, 1950. Interment was at Memorial Gardens in Newton.
