Lambs Grove – Gale B. Morrow, 68, of 115 Thomas Jefferson in Lambs Grove, died of heart failure, Wednesday, April 5, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Reese Chapel in Newton with the Rev. William Calhoun officiating. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 1 p.m. today at the funeral home where family will greet friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Memorials to Make A Wish Foundation, Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital or in Mr. Morrow’s name will be accepted.
The son of Gifford and Marie Sproul Morrow, he was born Jan. 28, 1932, in Barnes City. He graduated from Barnes City High School and later married Mary Fults, Oct. 22, 1982.
A former resident of Barnes City, he moved to Newton in 1949. Mr. Morrow retired from the Maytag Company in Newton in 1982 as an inspector in quality control. He was a member of the Westwood Golf Course, Hardee’s Coffee Club and a former member of the American Legion and Moose Lodge. Mr. Morrow was also a stock car driver in Newton, Knoxville and the surrounding area as well as a golfer and fisherman.
Survivors include his wife; a son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Kristin of Lambs Grove; a step-son and daughter-in-law, Lonnie and Kathy Fults of Kellogg; two step-daughters and a son-in-law, Melissa Engle and Amy and Todd Trease, all of Newton; and two sisters, Norma Ladely of New Sharon and Betty Bone of Montezuma.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a step-son.
