Kris, the daughter of Raymond and Patricia (Palmer) Link, was born on March 27, 1957 in Des Moines. She grew up a proud Iowa farm girl in rural Mingo. She loved everything about being on the farm especially her animals, including her horse.

During school she was active in sports, with softball being her favorite, and 4-H club. Kris graduated from Mingo High School in 1975. After graduation she received her AA degree in Early Childhood Development from DMACC, where she also played softball. She then made her home in Newton. Kris was united in marriage with Richard Craig Weston on September 16, 1978 in Colfax. She worked briefly for the Newton School District and then spent the next 40 years teaching and later as the Assistant Director at Peck Child Development Center. She retired from Peck in December of 2020.

Kris was a member of the Questers. She enjoyed the bi-annual family trips to Leech Lake in Minnesota. She loved spending time with her family and was especially proud of her title of Grandma. During the last few months, her daughter Katy spent time caring for her mom, allowing her dad, Craig, the ability to be a loving and doting husband.

Kris is survived by her husband, Craig Weston of Newton; daughters, Kelly (Tom) Bredfield of North Liberty and Katy Weston of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; grandsons, Holden and Miles Bredfield; siblings, Dennis (Sally) Link of Ankeny and Judy (Clyde) Grey of Greene; her aunt and uncle, L.D. (Glenda) Palmer of Montezuma; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Vicky Link.
