Harold Edward Wickliff, the son of Don D. and Mary May (Garrett) Wickliff, was born April 23, 1930, in Colfax. He graduated from Newton Senior High School. Harold served his country as a fighter pilot in the United States Navy from 1951-1955.
On July 5, 1955, Harold was united in marriage with Vada Alice Phillips in Kirksville, Mo. Harold worked as a supervisor for the Maytag Company in the porcelain department. Harold was a member of the Newton Masonic Lodge #59 AF & AM, the V.F.W., Newton Post #1655 and the American Legion, Newton Post #111.
Family was very important to Harold. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren meant the world to him and he would do anything for them.
Harold died Wednesday, March 10, 2021, at Newton Village Health Care Center. He was 90 years old. Harold was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Vada on Dec. 9, 2019; a brother, Junior (and Mary Lou) Wickliff; and his brother, William Wickliff.
Those left to honor Harold’s memory include his daughter, Cindy (Phil) Thomas; his granddaughters, Tiffany Thomas (Nate Tjernagel) and Mindy (Mark) Blanchard; his great-grandchildren, Thomas and Lydia Blanchard; his brothers, Dave (Cindy) Wickliff, Jim (Carol) Wickliff; his sisters, Betty (Donnie) Waddle, Mary Lou DeHaai, Judy (Terry) Bradley and Jane Mouchka; and many nieces and nephews.
Private family services will be held. Memorials may be designated to the American Cancer Society and may be left at the Pence-Reese Funeral Home.
