COLFAX – Commodore Dewey Chaney, son of Mr. and Mrs. Flag David Chaney, was born Feb. 5, 1899 at Ottumwa and died Feb. 9 at his home southeast of Colfax at the age of 45 years, four days.
He was united in marriage to Agnes Vivian Henderson Feb. 9, 1925 in Kansas City, Mo.
He accepted the faith of his church Oct. 8, 1933.
He is survived by his wife, his father Flag David Chaney of Milwaukee, Wis., brother, Arthur, of Des Moines, three cousins, Laure Rhoode, Mrs. Unis Bates and Gev. Miller of Des Moines.
The funeral services were held at the Bumgardner Funeral chapel at 2 o’clock Feb. 12.
Pallbearers were Lewis Strouthers, Horace Coles, Gerald Madison, Jess Anderson, Harvey Jackson and George Banks.
Out-of-town persons attending were: Mr. and Mrs. Braxton Baston and son, Alfred of Kansas city, Mo., F. C. Chaney of Milwaukee, Wis., Claude Henderson of Kansas City, Mrs. Gussie Moore of Leavenworth, Kans., Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Brookins of Atchinson, Kan., Mr. and Mrs. Frank Moore and Mrs. George Banks of Newton.
