Martha Bell Gunsaulus

MONROE, Iowa - Martha Bell Gunsaulus, 85, of Monroe, died of heart failure, Wednesday, Oct. 8, at Des Moines General Hospital.

Funeral services will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Wallace-Pence Funeral Homne in Newton with the Rev. Karen Merrill, pastor of United Methodist Church in Monroe, officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. thursday. Visitation with the family will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening.

Memorials to the American Heart Association will be accepted.

The daughter of Shadrach and Viola Rubar Reynolds, she was born July 29, 1912 in Newton.

She married Charles Gunsaulus Dec. 31, 1932 in Lancaster, Mo.

A lifelong resident of Jasper County, she worked as a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband; a son and daughter-in-law, John and Janet Gunsaulus of Colfax; a daughter and son-in-law, John and Janet Gunsaulus of Colfax; a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Tom Clark of Marceline, Mo.; six grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Viola and Edwin Lust of Mitchellville and Frances and Max Jontz of Baxter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother; and two sisters. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Oct 1997.
