Sandra “Sandy” Chilcote, 72, of Newton died on Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. The family will greet friends from 1-2 p.m., Friday, May 1, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. Following the visitation there will be a burial of ashes at Bellefountaine Cemetery in Tracy, Iowa. Memorials in Sandy’s name may be left at the funeral home.

Sandra, the daughter of John and Marjorie (Burdick) Kerr, was born on September 12, 1942 in Knoxville. Her family moved to Newton in 1948 where Sandy graduated from high school in 1960. She was united in marriage with Larry Chilcote on March 13, 1971 in Newton. Sandy worked at Neisner Department Store at the Newton Mall. Later Larry and Sandy moved to Belle Plaine where Sandy worked at Coast to Coast. After living a few years in Denver, Colorado, they moved back to Newton in 1998. Sandy enjoyed sewing, cooking, and baking.

Those left to honor Sandy’s memory are her husband, Larry Chilcote of Newton; siblings, Janice Bryant of Marion, Jackie Foreman of Newton, Ruth Bachman of Cedar Rapids, and Susie (Mike) Theis of Newton; her sisters-in-law, Karen Jacobs, Sandy Edwards, and Janice Chilcote; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, John Kerr. ~ The Wallace Family Funeral Home, Newton, Iowa 28 Apr 2015.
