John Fitzgerald Rites Held December 19

John H. Fitzgerald, 77, of Nevada died of cancer Wednesday, December 16, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 19, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, and burial was in the church cemetery.

Mr. Fitzgerald, a retired farmer was born in Colo and lived in the Nevada area for 45 years. He was a member of the Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. He also served for many years on the Nevada School Board and the County Extension Council.

Surviving are his wife, Avalee; four daughters, Gerri Dobbe of Eldridge, Marjorie Rinehart of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Kathy Huse of Sergeant Bluff, and Mary Ann Fitzgerald of Madison, Wis.; a son, Michael of New Lenox, Ill.; two sisters, Margaret Wheatcraft of Colfax and Rita Lindberg of Torrance, Calif.; two brothers, Elmer of Zearing and Joe of Mitchellville; and seven grandchildren.
