Services Today For Helen Hanson
Helen Hanson, 53, of Colfax died Monday, January 25, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held today (Thursday, January 28), at 10:30 a.m. at the Howard Street Christian Church in Colfax.

The Rev. John McKinstry, pastor of the church, will conduct the services. Burial will be in the Colfax Cemetery.

The soloist was Walter Williams, and the organist was Pat Evans. Casket bearers were Gene Hanson, David Hanson, Brian Hanson, Kermit Terry, Frank Bell, and Gavin Bell.

Visitation with the family was held at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax Wednesday from 7 to 8 p.m.

Survivors are her husband, Ronald; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Gene and David, both of Colfax, and Brian and Carley of Newton; two daughters, Laura Hanson of Colfax and Mary (Mrs. Kermit) Terry of Newton; and a grandchild.

Also surviving are her mother, Verlee Ellerbe of Colfax; a sister, Betty Avery of Colfax; and a brother, Jack Ellerbe of Lakeland, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Mrs. Hanson was a member of the Howard Street Christian Church in Colfax.

The daughter of William Henry and Verlee Hold Ellerbe, she was born February 1, 1939 in Lakeland, Fla., and was a 1957 graduate of Colfax Community High School.
