William R. Cavitt Dies Saturday; Services Tuesday
William Reed Cavitt, 73, a resident of Jasper County since 1921, died at 9:04 p.m. Saturday at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Toland Funeral Home.
The Rev. Arthur V. Long, minister of the First Methodist Church, will conduct the services. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.
Mr. Cavitt is survived by three daughters, Mrs. James (Linda) Koon of Kellogg, Mrs. Kenneth (Donna) Kirk of Newton and Mrs. Delbert (Geraldine) James of Monroe; a son, Clyde C. Cavitt of Newton; seven grandchildren; a brother, G. H. Cavitt of Tulsa, Okla.; and a sister, Mrs. Annie Temple of Muskogee, Okla.
Mr. Cavitt, a millright at the Maytag Co. for more than 30 years, was a member of the Methodist Church, the American Legion and the Maytag 25-Year Club.
He was a veteran of World War I.
The son of Robert W. and Fannie Mathews Cavitt, he was born in Kansas.
He was married to Susie M. Martz Dec. 31, 1924 at Montezuma. Mrs. Cavitt died Feb. 9, 1960.
