Cornelia J. Van Norden, 82

Cornelia (Kate) Struik was born on July 16, 1916, in Taintor, Iowa, to John and Sophia (Stam) Struik. She passed away April 21, 1999 at Porter Hospital in Denver, Colo. at the age of 82 years.

She grew up in the Sully area and attended the Sully Christian School through the eighth grade. On January 24, 1939, she was united in marriage with William Van Norden. To this union, five children were born: Gary, Carolyn, Marilyn, Kenneth, and William Lee. The family farmed in the Sully area for many years and were members of the Sully Christian Reformed Church. In 1968 they moved to Colorado. At the time of her death, Cornelia was a member of the Third Christian Reformed Church in Denver.

Cornelia is survived by her husband, William Van Norden of Denver, Cl.; three sons: Gary of Littleton, Col.; Kenneth and William, Jr.., both of Denver, Col.; a daughter, Marilyn Van Maanen of Sully; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two sisters: Johanna Honderd and Christina Vander Molen, both of Pella.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Sophia Struik; infant daughter, Carolyn; two brothers: Hubert and Krynert Struik and one sister, Wilma Sjaardema.

Funeral services were held Monday, April 26, at the Sully Christian Reformed Church. Pastor Roger Punt officiated; Larry Jansen was organist. Russ Stravers sand "How Great Thou Art" and "When Peace Like a River".

Casket Bearers were Gary Van Norden, Norman Van Maanen, William Van Norden, Jr., Rustin Van Wyk, Roger Van Norden and Kenneth Van Norden. Interment was at Sully Cemetery.
