GROVE, GROVES

Services for Mrs. Mary Groves, 78, 108 South Second Avenue East, will be held Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock at Johnson-Murdoch Funeral home. Burial will be in Hewitt Cemetery near Galesburg.

Mrs. Grove died yesterday morning after she suffered a heart attack in the First Lutheran church just before the morning services were to begin. She was taken to Skiff Memorial hospital by ambulance, but was dead on arrival.

Mrs. Grove was born Feb. 20, 1873, in Monroe. She was married to Maurice Grove on Jan. 8, 1895, at Pella, and the couple lived in Newton for many years. Mrs. Grove was well-known in the rural areas as a paper-hanger, a job she did for 30 years.

She is survived by one son, Louis Grove of Galesburg. Mrs. Grove was a member of the Lutheran church, the Women's Relief Corps and The Daily News Three-Quarter Century Club.

Officiating at the services will be Rev. Fredrick D. Boldt, pastor of the First Lutheran Church. Music will be by Mrs. D. E. Antle, soloist, and D. E. Antle, organist.

In charge of flowers will be Mrs. Albert Soderblom and Mrs. Earl Moore. Pallbearers will be E. J. Newquist, W. J. Andreas, J. F. Sutton, Albert Soderblom, Earl More and Harry Skow. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, August 6, 1951
