Former Resident Dies

Boyd Emerson Parsons was born Nov. 19, 1901 at Bonaparte, Iowa to Albert and Ina Parsons and died suddenly September 9, 1978 at Chadron, Nebraska.

At Sidney, Nebraska he was married to Eleanor (Mickey) Meade of Hemmingford, Nebr. on January 31, 1923. To this union one daughter was born at Fort Robinson, Nebr. and preceded him in death at the age of 10 months after they had moved to Ohio. He was preceded in death by his wife September 6, 1972 at Chadron, Nebraska.

Boyd spent many years at Fort Madison, Iowa where he worked at the Sheaffer pen factory. Later he worked at the Maytag factory at Newton, Iowa and the Monroe Table factory at Colfax before retiring and moving back to Nebraska.

He was married to Vera Sheppard of Fort Madison on Nov. 19, 1974. He was a Mason and a member of Elks Lodge 1399 of Chadron, Nebr. and active in the senior citizens program.

He is survived by his wife Vera, a brother Lloyd of Van Couver, Wash., a stepdaughter Dolores Genck of Donnelson Iowa, two grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at Erlewine–Hartman Chapel in Chadron with Rev. Truman Sproles officiating. Burial was in Hemingford Cemetery Sept.12th. ~ The Jasper County Tribune, Colfax, Ia., Thursday, September 21, 1978
