Knighton, Constance (Carnahan) – 1940-2010

Constance (Carnahan) Knighton was born in Monroe, Iowa, on Saturday, Oct. 6, 1940. She passed away at her home in Honolulu, Hawaii, on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2010. She was the first child of Clark and Thelma (Valentine) Carnahan.
Connie grew up in Jasper County and attended school in Monroe and Newton, graduating from Newton Senior High School in 1959. She was active in church and school activities and a long-time member of 4-H Clubs in Iowa.
Connie was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Honolulu, where she taught Sunday School and was in a small group.
Connie is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, David and Manami Keuning of Tokyo, Japan, and David’s father, Ray Keuning of Hilo, Hawaii. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Anika and Kai of Tokyo. Other survivors include her sister, Kathy Eason of Newton; her brothers, Clark (Nancy) Carnahan Jr. of Edwards, Colo., and Steven (Karen) Carnahan of Cedar Creek, Texas; and a sister, Carol Burggraf of Knoxville, Iowa. Connie was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
Services will take place in Honolulu on Sunday, Nov. 14, and at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17, at the First United Methodist Church in Newton.
