Ed Craig, 81, of Mitchellville, a former Jasper County resident, died Friday, July 31, 1992 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 5 at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Mitchellville. The Rev. Frank Kroll, pastor of the church, conducted services. Burial was in Mitchellville Cemetery. Hamilton Funeral Home in Mitchellville handled arrangements.
Memorials to the Diabetes Association, Mitchellville Rescue Unit, American Cancer Society or the church are being accepted.
Survivors are his wife, Alyce; two sons, W. Edward of Mitchellville and James of Bowling Green, Kentucky; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Alice Kellogg of Cumming and Helen Deer of Mitchellville.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Craig farmed for many years in Jasper and Polk Counties. He was a Beaver Township trustee, founder of the Mitchellville Coop, and was a member of the Mitchellville board of Education. He was a member of the Mitchellville Congregational Church of Christ.
The son of Ed and Leona Smith Craig, he was born May 8, 1911 on a farm northeast of Mitchellville and was a 1929 graduate of Mitchellville High School.
He was married to Alyce Crawford February 4, 1933 in Missouri.
