Sadie Van Bentum Hiemstra, 100, one of the charter members of the Prairie City First Reformed Church, died Tuesday evening, march 3, 1992, at Clearview Manor in Prairie City.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 6 at the Prairie City First Reformed Church. The Rev. Joel Brummel, pastor of the church, conducted the services. Burial was in Waveland Cemetery in Prairie City. Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City handled arrangements.
Memorials to the Prairie City First Reformed Church are being accepted.
Survivors are a daughter-in-law, Helen Hiemstra of Prairie City; a sister, Jeanette Wooddell of Altoona; two grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Albert, a son, Jacob, a son in infancy, a grandson, a brother, five sisters and two great-grandsons in infancy.
Mrs. Hiemstra was a longtime resident of the Prairie City area.
The daughter of John and Mattie De Reus Van Bentum, she was born August 10, 1891 in Marion County.
She was married to Albert Hiemstra.
