Anton "Tony" Gauch Services Held

Anton "Tony" Gauch, 80, lifelong resident of the Baxter area, died Tuesday, Jan. 7, at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.

Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 10 at the Baxter Congregational United Church of Christ.

The Rev. David Raymond, pastor of the Newton Congregational Church of Christ will conduct the services.

Burial was in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Rhodes.

Bearers were Steven Peterson, Victor Peterson, Yance Woody, Pryon Waters, Kevin Waters, and Tony Rickle.

Memorials in his name may be left at the funeral home.

Survivors are his wife, Mary Alice; five step-children, Larry Waters and Mary Ellen Woody, both of Baxter, Jerry Waters and David Waters, both of Marietta, Ga., and Alberta Woody of Pella; 18 step-grandchildren; and 18 step-great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are three sisters, Virginia Bucklin and Roma Des Planque, both of Newton, and Eilene Damman of Melbourne.

Mr. Gauch was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.

Mr. Gauch was employed at Gooch's Feed Mill in Baxter and was an independent salvage dealer prior to his retirement in 1965.

The son of John and Anna Bellmyer Gauch, he was born April 27, 1911 in Marshall County and was educated in Marshall County schools.

He was married to Mary Alice Waters Sept. 23, 1970 in Omaha, Neb. ~ The Jasper County Tribune, Colfax, Ia, Thursday, January 16, 1992
