Services Held For LeRoy H. Jolley
Le Roy H. Jolley, 80, of Newton, died Wednesday, Jan. 8 at Skiff Medical Center.
Public Masonic services were held Sunday, Jan. 12 at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.
Lecturer Harold "Pete" Paschal, past grand master of Iowa, conducted Masonic services.
Memorial to the Za-Ga-Zig Hospital transportation fund may be left at the funeral home.
Survivors are his wife, Vonda; two sons, James of Newton and Jerry of Tujunga, Calif.; a daughter, Joy (Mrs. Forrest) Kennedy of Des Moines; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Mr. Jolley was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Virginia Krug.
Mr. Jolley was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
He also was a member of the Newton Masonic Lodge No. 59 AF and AM, Newton Nazareth Shrine No. 37, Scottish Rite of Cedar Rapids, the Za-Ga-Zig Shrine in Des Moines and the Jasper County Jokers.
He was a volunteer driver for the Shriners' Crippled Children's Hospital.
Mr. Jolley, a member of the Carpenters and Joiners Unions in California, was a navy veteran of World War II.
A retired California construction millwright, he was born Aug. 18, 1911 in Des Moines, the son of Loyis and Mildred Jolley.
