The funeral of David Conn Sr. took place Wednesday in the U. P. church, Wild Cat Grove, Rev. C. C. Harsh officiating. The attendance was very large and the old friends and neighbors of deceased were deeply touched by the solemnity of the occasion. Mr. Conn was 69 years last November. He was born in the North of Ireland. When a child he came to reside in Scotland where he lived until his father’s death. Then he returned to Ulster, where he married Elizabeth Jane Armstrong, who survives him. After his marriage he came again to Scotland where all his children were born and whence he sailed to America in 1874. In 1883 he came to Iowa, Jasper County, remaining here until his death. Eight children, six sons and two daughters are living and one, Andrew, is dead. Those eight children were present at his bedside a week before his decease, and followed his remains to Wild Cat cemetery, where they laid him tenderly to rest beside the grave of his beloved son Andrew. Mr. Conn was a true hearted, honorable and industrious citizen. His death removes from our midst a familiar face, that will be long and lovingly remembered. The sorrow stricken widow and family have the sincerest sympathy of this community.
