Forrest Halbloom dies at Grinnell

Forrest Marvin Halbloom, 66, died Aug. 28, 1985, at Grinnell General Hospital. Funeral was held at Harden Funeral Home in New Sharon Sat., Aug. 31, at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Kenneth Santee, pastor of the Lynnville Friends Church, officiating. Burial was in Newton Union cemetery.

Pallbearers were Doyle Schultz, Larry Melsa, Charlie Bryan, Laverne Jones, Glen Van Genderen, and Gerald Ver Steegt. Music was by May Mc Vay. Flower attendants were Mrs. Glen Van Genderen and Mrs. Larry Melsa.

The son of Charles and Anna Milner Halbloom, he was born May 21, 1919, in Newton. He was married to Francis Illingsworth in Newton in 1952. A World War II veteran, he was a member of the Newton VFW Post #1655. He had worked as a feed mill operator at Lynnville Old Mill.

Survivors are his wife, Francis; and one brother, Leonard Johnson of Coralville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one half brother, and one half sister. ~ The Diamond Trail News, Sept. 4, 1985
