Mary Good Sager Dies at Hospital; Services Friday
Mrs. Mary Good Sager, 88, a resident of Jasper county for many years, died Tuesday night at the Skiff memorial hospital. Complications following a broken hip were the cause of death.
Mrs. Sager would have celebrated her 89th birthday next June 4.
Funeral services will be held at two o’clock Friday afternoon at the Baptist church in Colfax. Burial will be in the Colfax cemetery. Mrs. Sager was born June 4, 1859, in Indiana, the daughter of Jacob and Margaret Marquette. When only six weeks old she traveled westward with her parents by covered wagon and oxen team.
She was married to Bill Miller in 1876, but this marriage ended in divorce. About 1880 she was married to James M. Good, who preceded her in death in 1931. On her birthday, June 4, 1938, she was married to William H. Sager, who had been her childhood sweetheart. He preceded her in death in 1942.
Survivors include one son, Joseph Miller of Colfax; three step-daughters, Mrs. Nora Adams of Des Moines, Mrs. Lydia Eubank of Colfax and Mrs. Ruth Snook of Mingo; five step-sons, Albert Good of Reasnor, Simon Sager of Colfax, William Sager of Collins, Joe Sager of Mingo and James Sager of Collins; 35 grandchildren; 47 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
