Zinita L. Kirchhoff, 95, of Oelwein, mother of Stan (Carolyn) Kirchhoff, died Saturday afternoon, Sept. 18, 2010, at the Grandview Health Care Center.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Grace Methodist Church in Oelwein, with visitation from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Zinita is survived by: Son—Stan (Carolyn) Kirchhoff of Newton, Iowa 5 Grandchildren—Rae (Jon) Shanahan of Pleasant Hill, Iowa Brian (Cindy) Kirchhoff of New Braunfels, Texas Christie (Kevin) Manso of Troy, Illinois Lori (Michael) Lawrence of Winterset, Iowa Jami ( Jason) Sarsany of Savannah, Missouri 13 Great Grandchildren Sister—Alberta Kirchhoff of Sumner, Iowa Brother—Lowell (Kathryn) Cannell of Sumner, Iowa Son-in-law—James Campbell of St. Louis, Missouri
She was preceded in death by her Parents—Husband (Frank E. Kirchhoff on October 25, 1995)—Daughter (Charla Campbell)—Sister (Olive Bassett)—and 3 Brothers (Forrest, Vaylard, and Percy Cannell).
The oldest of 7 children, Zinita Leona Cannell was born on February 2, 1915 at Sumner, Iowa, the daughter of Dorsey and Mamie (Fridley) Cannell. As a youth she attended grade school at Banks, No. 7 and then graduated from Sumner High School at Sumner, Iowa in 1932. Zinita taught in a country school and on June 4, 1936 she married Frank E. Kirchhoff at the Union Evangelical Church in rural Sumner, Iowa. Zinita and Frank operated the Oelwein Locker Plant from 1947 until 1954 and moved to Marshalltown, Iowa where they operated the Dairy Queen from 1959 to 1964. They then moved to Fort Dodge, Iowa and operated the Dairy Queen from 1964 to 1974. Zinita and Frank enjoyed their years at the Dairy Queen with long lines waiting to purchase malts and sundaes and other products. Zinita and Frank moved back to Oelwein in 1975. Zinita was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Fireside Fellowship, and was past worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star Oelwein Chapter # 45 along with holding various state offices. She enjoyed playing cards with various groups through the years. She has been a resident of the Grandview Health Care Center since December 29, 2009.
Interment: Union Cemetery in rural Sumner, Iowa
