BELLEVUE, Iowa

Florabelle A. Tietjen, 85, of Bellevue, died Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2009, at home, surrounded by her family.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 28, at St. John Lutheran Church, St. Donatus, with Pastor Shane Koepke officiating. Burial will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Kingery~Lemke Funeral Home. Friends also may call after 9:30 a.m. Friday at the church.

She was born on Feb. 28, 1924, in Bellevue, daughter of Joseph and Florence (Felderman) Morett. She married Howard F. Tietjen on July 8, 1943, in St. Donatus; he preceded her in death on Oct. 23, 1994.

She farmed with her husband, was a homemaker and drove school bus for 13 years for Bellevue Community Schools.

Florabelle loved cooking and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are her son, Duane (Ruth) Tietjen; two grandchildren, Troy (Wendy) Tietjen and Terry (Kathy) Tietjen and two great-grandchildren, Faith and Ricky, all of Bellevue; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Jim and Maybell Hall and their children, Rafeal and Morgan, who have been more like family through the years.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Vera and Betty Ann; and a niece, Carol Jean Schroeder.
