Doralee “Koke” Beaderstadt, age 96 of Brooklyn, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at Brooklyn Community Estate. Per her wishes, Koke donated her body to Des Moines University for research. There will be no services at this time. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be contributed to the Poweshiek Animal League Shelter in her memory. Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn is assisting the family with arrangements.

She is survived by her children, Fran Beaderstadt of Brooklyn, Bryan of Brooklyn, John (Janice) of Brooklyn, Beth Sheets (Charlie) of Montezuma, Karla Lynch (Al) of Wasilla, Alaska, and Patty Benal (Gene) of Wahoo, Nebraska; 22 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Koke was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harold in 2017, a brother Allen Cox, and sisters, Margaret “Bobbie” Jordan, Frances Cox, and Kathryn Maschmann.

Doralee Cox was born November 4, 1927 in Montezuma, Iowa to Walter Eugene Smith Cox and Viva Cook Cox. She received her education in the Montezuma schools graduating in 1945. Koke married Harold E. Beaderstadt on January 6, 1948 in Leavenworth, KS. She was a loving wife, mother and homemaker. After her children were grown, Koke worked at Amana Refrigeration in the service department for 17 years. She retired from there and filled her time volunteering at the VA Hospital in Iowa City for 15 years. In her free time she enjoyed camping, fishing, reading, and cheering on the Iowa Hawkeye football and the Chicago Cubs baseball teams. She loved all dogs and never met one she didn’t love.

She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the South Side Circle. Above all, Koke loved spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
